Extending Apex, Redirack & Dexion MK3 Pallet Racking for UK Hip Flasks

Extending Apex, Redirack & Dexion MK3 Pallet Racking for UK Hip Flasks

Client & Project Overview

Client: UK Hip Flasks
Project Type: Supply and Delivery Only
Equipment Supplied: Apex, Redirack and Dexion MK3 compatible pallet racking materials; 2 x 2-bay single runs with 3 beam levels per bay; chipboard decking

At Advanced Handling & Storage Ltd, we regularly support businesses who need to expand their storage capacity while working around existing warehouse layouts.

UK Hip Flasks approached us as a new customer requiring additional pallet racking materials to integrate into their current systems, along with racking for a newly planned storage area.

This was a supply and delivery only project.

Understanding the Requirement

UK Hip Flasks were operating with a mixture of pallet racking systems, including:

  • Apex
  • Redirack
  • Dexion MK3

They required additional materials to extend these existing systems safely and correctly.

Alongside this, they were introducing a new layout area within the warehouse and needed pallet racking to suit their stock profile and available footprint.

With multiple manufacturers involved, correct identification and compatibility were essential. Mixing components from different systems can compromise structural integrity, so accuracy was a priority from the outset.

Our Solution

Once system types and specifications were confirmed, we supplied and delivered:

Materials for Existing Systems

Compatible components for:

  • Apex
  • Redirack
  • Dexion MK3

All beams and associated parts were matched to the correct manufacturer to ensure safe integration with the existing racking.

This allowed UK Hip Flasks to increase capacity without replacing serviceable structures.

New Pallet Racking Layout

For the new storage area, we supplied:

  • 2 x 2-bay single runs
  • 3 beam levels per bay
  • Chipboard decking to each level

The chipboard decking provides a solid, practical surface for smaller or non-standard pallets, offering greater flexibility in how the space is used.

The configuration was straightforward and efficient, designed to work within their operational flow.

Key Considerations

System Compatibility

Each racking manufacturer uses different connection details. Supplying the correct system-specific components are critical for maintaining safety.

Load Capacity

Beam capacities were specified to suit the intended pallet weights, supporting safe long-term use.

Cost-Effective Expansion

By extending existing systems rather than replacing them, UK Hip Flasks were able to increase storage in a controlled and cost-effective way.

Coordinated Delivery

Materials were delivered in line with the customer’s installation programme, allowing them to manage the works internally and minimise disruption during operational hours.

The Outcome

UK Hip Flasks successfully:

  • Increased pallet storage capacity
  • Extended three different racking systems safely
  • Introduced a new, practical racking layout
  • Maintained consistency across their warehouse

This project demonstrates the importance of correct identification and specification when working with mixed pallet racking systems.

If you need to extend existing pallet racking or introduce a new layout, ensuring compatibility and correct specification is essential.

Rob was very helpful from the beginning. We needed new racking but also needed beams for older racking - three different types. He managed to advise which ones we needed from just a photograph. Thank you Rob! Daisy was also very patient waiting for us to be able to accept delivery and ensuring everything was delivered promptly. Highly recommend this company."
