Warehouse Pallet Racking

We’ve recently reported in a previous blog that due to the pandemic, there has been an increase in warehouse and storage facilities – especially those sites that support e-commerce. As the public has spent a considerable amount of time working from home or isolating themselves, a surge in online retail has swept the country. Combined with longer lockdown periods, online has supported the countries buying habits. In contrast, traditional bricks and mortar shops have been forced to close. With this surge in online sales, we have also seen a direct correlation in the need for suitable warehouse facilities. With more and more stock being ordered, stored and used, companies have needed to find locations to keep their goods.

We are starting to see some of the world return to normal. But we are still a long way off returning to normal. Who knows, when things do get back to “normal”, who’s to say that working from home, flexible working, the whole office dynamic will change completely. We’re not saying that this is the new normal. Still, many businesses are already committing to working from home and flexible working schemes in the future.

So what does this have to do with warehouse pallet racking? Well, with more people working from home, usually you’ll find an increased dependency on e-commerce. People can order what they want, get it delivered to the home, nice and easy. Or, on the flip side, with the high street getting back up and running, there’ll now be an even more significant demand on the high street stores to meet demand. Both sides of retail will start to get hit with more and more demand, which will get busier as we start leading up to the festive months.

We think that businesses on the high street and online must have the correct used pallet racking systems in place to support their growing demand. The last thing you want is an accident due to not having sufficient and suitable storage in place.

Things you can do to help with demand:

  • Invest in quality – don’t just buy cheap, thinking this is a short term solution, and if it breaks, it breaks. As we have mentioned before, demand is only getting bigger. Make sure you invest in a quality used pallet racking system to support your needs long term.
  • Train your staff – make sure everyone on the floor knows the ins and outs of your used pallet racking. The last thing you need is someone not knowing what to do, where to pick products, or how to do things.
  • Buy from a credible source – while it might be tempting to buy a used pallet racking system or shelving system that will “just do”, don’t! Please do your research on whom you are buying from and make sure they supply top quality racking.
  • Buy the correct racking – speak to us about your needs, and we’ll find you a racking system that will meet your needs, not something that will only meet 50% of your needs. We want to make sure your business can run as smoothly as possible with this new investment.
